Before Arriving For Class
You will need a laptop for classroom study and access to our files; A Windows operating system is required. Please have the following software installed on your laptop before arriving. (They are all free.) If you have trouble installing any of these, don’t worry, we will help you when you arrive. We just ask to be as prepared as possible as it saves time so you can get right to learning.

The book Troubleshooting and Repairing Major Appliances, 3rd Ed, by Eric Kleinert, is required and can be purchased from Amazon.
To better prepare yourself for class, we suggest reading Chapter 6 Electricity and Chapter 7 Electronics from Troubleshooting & Repairing Major Appliances, 3rd Ed, by Eric Kleinert, before attending class.
Please obtain your EPA certification before coming to class. You are required to show proof of your certification before you can work on refrigeration products.
You will need a 608 Type I certification. Don’t worry, the test is open book and doesn’t require hands on experience to pass.
I.D. & MAJOR CREDIT CARD
Please bring a valid credit card for security purposes and a photo ID to verify your identity.
You must be 18 years of age or older no later than the first day of class.
Please come prepared with an email address that you can access from anywhere.
This is required to register for our cloud document service which hosts thousands of service manuals and various other job aides. We recommend Gmail.

84 Miles from CAK to Fred’s Flats
If transportation is needed from the airport to the flats (or from the flats to the airport), it is the responsibility of the student. We recommend contacting one of these services prior to arriving.

The flats are within walking distance of the classroom and lab. It is about a 3 minute walk. It is not a necessity to have a vehicle while attending our Academy.
