Many aspiring technicians have wanted to attend Fred’s but were unable to take a full three weeks away from work or family. The new 1-week format solves that problem while still giving students access to the same world-class training taught by industry legend Chad Phillipp, the Academy’s lead instructor.

You can now enroll in any of the three training weeks individually or take all three in consecutive order.

Week 1: Laundry & Multimeters
Week 2: Cooking
Week 3: Refrigeration

Each week focuses deeply on one product category. Hands-on labs, real-world troubleshooting, and skill building are the core of every day you are with us.

Do You Still Get a Certification?

Yes. Each week comes with its own Certificate of Completion.
If you take all three weeks, you will earn the same full program certificate that our 3-week students receive.

What About Job Placement?

Although the 1-week courses are brand new, the industry demand for technicians remains incredibly strong. Many students arrive already hired, sent by the companies that employ them.

How Ready Will You Be After One Week?

The 1-week format is designed to be supplemental to an apprenticeship or on-the-job training. Hands-on experience in the field is essential in this trade.

However, we have seen exceptional students over the years complete all three weeks and launch their own businesses. It is not typical, but it is possible.

If you are brand new to the trade, we recommend taking all three weeks in order for the most complete experience.

Students may enroll in any individual week at $1,800 per week.
Students taking the full three-week program qualify for a discounted bundle price of $4,200.

Daily Schedule

Monday through Friday
8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
45-minute lunch break

Expect minimal homework since each day is deeply hands-on.

Will 1-Week Students Be Mixed with 3-Week Students?

Yes, depending on the week and the number of students enrolled.
If you are brand new to the field, we strongly recommend taking the weeks in order.
If you already have experience or want to focus on one product group, you are welcome to take any week in any order.

Tech Ride-Alongs Now Available

After completing one week of training, students are eligible for up to five days of ride-along training with a real technician from our sister service company in Northeast Ohio. This experience is incredibly valuable for students who want real-world context.

Housing Is Available and Affordable

Our on-campus housing is located just a three-minute walk from the training lab.
Rates start at $60 per night for a fully furnished apartment.

Scholarships

There are currently no scholarships available for individual 1-week sessions, but the Academy is actively offering full-program scholarship opportunities throughout the year.
