Field Appliance Repair Technician
Foster Appliance is looking to add an experienced field appliance repair technician to our team for in-home/business appliance diagnosis and repair. The ideal candidate will have proven mechanical aptitude, with a firm understanding of diagnostics for today’s appliances, and be ready to hit the ground running in a company vehicle stocked with common parts. EPA Type 1 certification and sealed-system experience is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Provide customers with an experience that gives them confidence in your knowledge and the value they’re receiving.
- Safely drive to multiple customers daily to diagnose and repair a variety of residential kitchen and laundry appliances with high levels of quality and efficiency.
- Keep company truck well-maintained & organized, and accurately manage truck parts stock for efficiency in service calls.
- Communicate the cause of issues and required repair in a way that is understood by the average person.
- Read manuals and communicate effectively with tech support providers when unfamiliar with the troubleshooting needs.
- Calculate the cost of repairs and provide customers with a quote.
- Collect payments from customers.
- Treat coworkers and customers with respect.
- Positively represent Foster Appliance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree
- Valid driver’s license.
- Mechanical knowledge and aptitude, including use of testing & repair tools.
- Training and/or experience repairing and diagnosing a variety of kitchen and laundry appliances.
- EPA certification (Type I) and sealed-system experience. (preferred)
- Have your own hand tools (necessary specialty tools provided).
- Successfully pass a background & drug screen.
- Ability to read, understand, and apply written text of a technical nature to answer questions, solve problems, and complete job tasks.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Able to follow directions and processes for quality workmanship.
- Able to use a smartphone and laptop, including use for part ordering.
- Ability to constantly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 lbs (frequently lift, carry, push, or pull 50 lbs; occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull 100 lbs)
- Ability to reach outward, handle objects, stand, walk, sit and type using a keyboard.
- Ability to frequently bend, squat, kneel, twist, turn, stoop, climb, and crawl.
- Ability to occasionally reach above shoulder.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 – $27.00 per hour
