Appliance Repair Technician
Appliance Repair Technician (Subcontractor)
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Appliance Repair Technician (Subcontractor) to perform in-home diagnostics, repairs, and installations for all major household appliances. This is a 1099 subcontractor position, ideal for technicians who are self-motivated, professional, and comfortable working independently in a field service environment.
The ideal technician has strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, experience servicing multiple appliance brands, and the ability to deliver high-quality, customer-focused service.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot residential appliance issues using schematics, service manuals, and diagnostic tools
- Repair and service all major household appliances, including:
- Refrigerators & freezers
- Washers & dryers (electric and gas)
- Ranges, ovens, and cooktops
- Dishwashers
- Microwaves and other kitchen appliances
- Perform appliance installations and replacements when required
- Safely test and repair electrical, mechanical, and (where applicable) gas components
- Clearly communicate findings, repair options, and recommendations to customers
- Maintain accurate service records, including diagnostics, parts used, and completed repairs
- Follow safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines at all times
- Operate independently while meeting scheduled service windows and response times
- Coordinate with dispatch or management regarding job status and parts needs
Requirements
- Proven experience as a residential appliance repair technician or field service technician
- Strong working knowledge of electrical diagnostics, motors, switches, sensors, control boards, and mechanical systems
- Ability to service multiple appliance brands and models
- Experience with in-home service calls and customer interaction
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and service documentation
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and ability to travel to customer locations
- Own tools required to perform appliance diagnostics and repairs
- Professional appearance and strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently as a subcontractor (1099)
Subcontractor Details
- This is an independent contractor / 1099 position
- Technician is responsible for own tools, vehicle, and insurance (as applicable)
- Flexible scheduling with steady service opportunities
- Compensation based per-job or per-diagnosis (details discussed during onboarding)
