Dryer Training

Hi, my name is Renae, and I'm an appliance repair tech. Today I'm going to talk to you guys about dryer sheets. This video is inspired by a TikTok posted recently by Sasha Ciao. They go by @CiaoSasha here on TikTok. And they posted a video about how they feel that dryer sheets are a conspiracy.

And there's a little truth to that. There are a lot of Americans out there who think that if you don't use dryer sheets, you're not doing your laundry properly. So I wanted to go over with you the things that dry sheets do and do not do. Dryer sheets basically just have a waxy fragrance on them, which will make your clothes smell nice and they can help reduce static. Now, reducing static is important because there's a very small chance that it could start a dryer fire, but it's not very likely.

Additionally, because dryer sheets have that waxy coating, that coating can wind up on your clothing. That's how the fragrance gets on them. So if you have sensitive skin, they're probably not a good idea. If you use too many dryer sheets that waxy coating can also end up on the sensor bars on your dryer or the grain sheets can get stuck to the sensor bars. And if those sensor bars are covered, your dryer might think that your clothes are dry before they're actually dry.

If you want to reduce static, but you don't want to use dryer sheets, a better option is to use dryer balls. They'll help reduce static without adding that waxy buildup or fragrance. Using dryer balls will also help save you money because they're reusable.

So I hope that helps clear a few things up about the dryer sheet conspiracy.
